Kingdom of Bailey
Bailey is a prosperous kingdom formed from the ruins of the minor elven kingdom, Kingdom of Altel, now long defunct. It’s early settlers mixed with the remaining elves and resulted in the nobility and some of the common folk of Bailey having elven blood. Bailey shares its borders with three neighboring kingdoms that of Mullheim to the south, Quint to the east and Thean to the north.
Bailey was once a monarchy but is now ruled by the Protector of Bailey, a nobleman elected by a council of Bailey’s nobles. The original Protector was elected as regent to the last kings teenage son who died of a fever. The position of Protector was preserved after the crown prince’s death to prevent a war and permitted the nobles of the kingdom to rule themselves for many years. A long series of Protector have built up the power of the Protectorship, curtailing the power of the nobility, to the point of being as powerful as the King. Although rule doesn’t pass through This is partially due to repeated wars, mostly with the Kingdoms of Mullheim and Quint and the occasional conflict with Thean. The current Protector, Lord Alden Mussen, has continued in this tradition exerting significant change in his 45 years as Protector, due in part to his victory in the previous war with the Kingdom of Mullheim.
